Company ProfileForteith Foodservice is a successful privately owned family firm established over 50 years
ago by the late Jack Forteith. Since 1955, and from its origins as 'Master Fishmongers',
'Poulterers' and 'Game Dealers' the late Iain Forteith, Jack's eldest son continued to
expand the business which now, with a multi million pound turnover, offers an
unparalleled range of Frozen, Chilled and Ambient foods to both the catering and retail
trade. From 2002 the business further expanded under the partnership of Iain's
younger brother Billy Forteith, Iain's son John Forteith and Ernie McInnes. Following
Billy's retirement in December 2006 the business continues to thrive under the current
partnership of John, Ernie and newly appointed partner Steven Forteith (Billy’s son). 2004 witnessed further expansion of the site to double the capacity and inclusion of a comprehensive range of Dry Goods in its new 350 pallet ambient warehouse and the introduction of a Refrigeration engineering workshop. The rolling out of a comprehensive ‘Online Ordering’ facility took place in 2005.
Further expansion in 2006 included a 25% increase in fleet size and an additional 300 pallets freezer and 300 pallets of dry goods expansion. This gives a capacity of approximately 1200 pallets of storage to service exclusively the West Highlands and Islands. Unlike ‘remote’ national wholesalers, being local and fully appreciative of the geography and seasonality of the area, the company strives to ensure service levels are second to none all year round. Subsequently, key suppliers to Forteith Foodservice undergo a continual and stringent review processes. Now with a customer base exceeding 1,500 and over 50 years of experience Forteith Foodservice has an unrivalled depth of knowledge of the local area and the unique opportunities and difficulties it presents to customers. Forteith Foodservice are therefore ideally placed to advise on areas such as range management, menu planning and merchandising. As testimony to the company’s reputation for Quality, Service and Range, several unique business relationships with the UK’s leading delivered wholesalers, 3663 First for Foodservice, Delice de France, Cuisine de France and Ice Cream World have developed. Forteith Foodservice became an associate member of Landmark Wholesale group in January 2008 adding to its already comprehensive offering.
